2013 saw the launch of the ProForm 6.0 RT treadmill. This was actually created to be a reasonable performing entry level treadmill rivaling the likes of the Horizon T101.
It comes with a 2.5HP electric motor as well and can attain speeds of approximately 10mph. The top end weight limit is 300 pounds, and with the speed and weight limit this treadmill will be perfect for light runners or joggers.
6.0 RT Features
Like all good treadmills, cushioning is a key component to get right, otherwise you would be better off running on the road. The treadmill has an ok shock absorption system named TreadSoft Cushioning which does actually make for a comfortable running experience.
Raise The LimitsThe inline is actually effortless to work. The ProForm 6.0 RT permits you to have a hard stroll uphill then afterwards go back to an even surface area just with a simple press of the automated ramp button. It rises automatically to 10%. The capability to raise the incline ramp adds a more physical dimension to working out. Prepare to sweat!
Crystal Clear LCD
Where would a treadmill be without stats? Apart from monitoring all the usual suspects, time, distance, calories, this treadmill uses EKG Grip Pulses, which allow you to grip the handlebars and get a pulse reading.
Some treadmills possess loud electric motors. That can be very annoying. It can make it hard to listen to your iPod or TV. The Proform 6.0 RT is actually quite noiseless. It also has an inbuilt cooling system which is designed to protect the life of the motor. This is probably why Proform are offering a long warranty on this treadmill.
Folding Treadmill Design
If you are space needy you will find the ability to fold an excellent component. The 6.0 RT folds vertically, so although it remains tall you can push it up against a wall and save over 50% of it’s space.
Great for someone working out in a small area and needs to have the freedom of the room back after the workout.
The frame and the motor have a good warranty of 5 years. The parts and labor is not so good at 90 days.
The Verdict on The Proform 6.0 RT
- This treadmill is certainly not designed for serious runners. The motor, the top speed restriction and the cushioning are not designed to withhold high intensity work.
- If you want a machine that is capable for light running or jogging this is a good fit.
- It has enough workout programs (8) to keep you occupied and it also has an iPod port
- The deck is a bit short for uses over 6ft 3, or anyone with a long stride. It is restricted to 18×55 inches
The Proform 6.0 RT is actually a pretty good option for the majority of people who want a no frills workout machine capable of light workouts. If you are using it to generally keep in shape, it will serve you well. If you are going to be pushing yourself through the limits of physical perfection (i.e. running as fast as you can) then you will need to look for a more capable machine. Machines limited to 10 mph and with a 2.5 HP motor will not serve well as a high intensity running partner.
It is for anyone who wants a general family treadmill and who doesn’t abuse it. It is simple to use and has the benefit of storing easily away.
